Dear Dr. Shuey:
As we discussed at the Stanford Computer Forum, Cuthbert
Hurd and I have an invention we would like to discuss with appropriate
people at General Electric on a confidential basis. Unfortunately,
it is very doubtful that the invention is patentable, because, once
its function is understood, realizing it is easy.
We believe that our invention will eventually be comparable
to TV in its cost and market size. It involves a micro-computer
used for a new application that will appeal to people entirely
uninterested in computers per se.
Enclosed is a copy of an agreement
stating the approximate basis on which we would like to discuss the
idea. However, if G.E. has a customary agreement for such discussions,
we could do it their way.
Thank you for your willingness to forward this communication
and to introduce us to the people who will consider it.
This letter, of course, contains no information we regard as confidential.
